IVER JOHNSON ARMS “Safety Automatic” HAMMERLESS C&R DA Revolver ROARING 20s
NICE Circa the early 1900s SELF DEFENSE Revolver
Here we present a C&R Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Safety Automatic Hammerless Double Action C&R Revolver in .38 S&W, made circa the early 1900s in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. The production run for this revolver was 1897 through 1941. Iver Johnson was a U.S. firearms, bicycle, and motorcycle manufacturer from 1871 to 1993.
The company shared the same name as its founder, Norwegian-born Iver Johnson (1841–1895). Iver Johnson & Martin Bye both cut their teeth with Ethan Allen, then started their own company in 1871. The revolver was a small, sturdy, well-built self-defense weapon, ideal for potent conceal and carry in the early years of the tumultuous 20th Century continuing on into the Roaring Twenties. With gangsters, and career criminals running rampant, this example would have been the “pocket advantage” a person needed.
The overall condition is fine. Much original blue finish has been preserved. Excellent action. Both grips are in fine shape with minimal evidence of handing wear. Markings are sharp. The bore is bright with nice rifling.
