Iver Johnson “AMERICAN BULL DOG” .38 Centerfire DOUBLE ACTION C&R Revolver
Turn of the Century Self Defense Revolver
Here we present a C&R Iver Johnson “AMERICAN BULLDOG” .38 Double Action centerfire revolver, made circa 1883 through 1899 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Iver Johnson was a U.S. firearms, bicycle, and motorcycle manufacturer from 1871 to 1993. The company shared the same name as its founder, Norwegian-born Iver Johnson (1841–1895). The revolver was a small, sturdy, well-built self-defense weapon, ideal for potent conceal and carry in the closing decade of the tumultuous late 19th to early 20th Century.
This revolver features a double/single action trigger and five shots of .38 Long Centerfire. The top of the frame is marked “AMERICAN BULL DOG”.
The overall condition is good. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age. Legible markings. Both grips are missing a chip along the backstrap and sit a little loose.
