HOPKINS & ALLEN ARMS Company .22 Caliber Rimfire FALLING BLOCK Rifle C&R
NORWICH, CONNECTICUT Made Hunting/Sporting Rifle
Here we present a C&R Hopkins & Allen Arms Company Falling Block Rifle made between 1896 and 1914 in Norwich, Connecticut. The Hopkins & Allen Manufacturing Company of Norwich, Connecticut was founded in 1866. The name was changed to Hopkins & Allen Arms Company in 1896 and continued until the company was taken over by Marlin-Rockwell Corporation in 1914.
Hopkins & Allen was known mainly for their revolvers, but the firm did start manufacturing single shot rifles like this one in 1888. The company also produced several of both single shot and side-by-side shotguns. This Falling Block was chambered in a variety of calibers ranging from .22 rimfire through .38-55 WCF. Its single shot action would have been great to teach a young lad the importance of making every shot count!
The overall condition is good. The action is strong. The bore is reflective and has good rifling. The stock is solid. The butt plate is chipped at the toe.
