Product Description
HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON .32 CF Double Action Top Break HAMMERLESS Revolver
VERY NICE Early 20th Century H&R CONCEAL & CARRY
Here we present a C&R Harrington & Richardson Top Break Double Action Hammerless Revolver, made circa the early 1900s in Worcester, Massachusetts. This interesting little double action revolver was made for concealed carry self-defense in the early part of the 20th Century. It holds 5 shots of .32 Centerfire with a 3-inch barrel. The best part of this revolver is its hammerless feature, which prevents it from being caught in the clothing as its being drawn. The company name, address and patent dates are on the flat top of the barrel.
In 1875 Gilbert Harrington and former Frank Wesson employee, William Augustus Richardson, formed the new Harrington & Richardson Company. In 1888 the firm was incorporated as The Harrington & Richardson Arms Company. Their original capital investment was $75,000. Harrington was president, Richardson was treasurer, and George F. Brooks was secretary. This 5-shot, .32 S&W revolver would have been ideal to keep in a pocket or a belt-holster for self-defense in the turbulent early 20th Century, or possibly even law enforcement. Its hammerless design makes it smooth and less prone to snag on the draw, just what one wants when concealing.
The overall condition is fine. Original nickel finish. The action fully functions, but the cylinder does not index properly. The bore is mostly-bright but strong rifling. Very good grips. Markings are worn in some places but remain legible. Visible numbers match.
