HANDSOME BRACE Antique PEDERZOLI Superposed PERCUSSION Pistols MILANESE .69
LARGE, ORNATE, ELABORATE HOWDAH TYPE
Here we present an antique Matched Pair of Elaborte Superposed Percussion Pistols made circa the mid to late-1800s in Milan, Italy by the Pederzoli Brothers. This pair of over and under double barrel percussion pistols have 7-3/4 inch barrels in .69 caliber, with the ramrods tucked nicely between the Damascus twist barrels on the right hand side. Barrels are octagonal and swamped. Front bead and rear notch sights. The left locks are marked “FRATELLI PEDERZOLI” (Pederzoli Brothers), with “A MILANO CORSIA S. GIORGIO” (of Milan, Lane San Giorgio) marked on the right locks. The ornate cast trigger guards–feature a hunter with a pipe and a mug–cover both triggers. The cast pommel on one of the guns has a hinge so that one can keep their caps inside. Dog head hammers. Small oval with an engraved crown on the top of the wrist of one of the pistols signifying lesser royalty.
These would have been fantastic riding pistols made for protection against man or beast, and certainly a nice status symbol.
The overall condition is fine. Original Damascus patterns and Silver throughout, along with patina. Actions are excellent. Bores are large, patinated and smooth. Stocks show moderate handling and remain solid.
