FREIDRICH PICKERT Folding Trigger “ARMINIUS” Hammerless C&R Revolver
Named for the Germanic Chieftain—Battle of Teutoburg Forest
Here we present a C&R Friedrich Pickert “Arminus” Hammerless Folding Trigger .320 Caliber Revolver, made circa the 1930s in Zella-Mehlis, Germany. Arminius revolvers were made pre-war by Friedrich Pickert, who adopted the name of the German hero for his guns and embossed the grips with the warrior’s head. They had a reputation for low cost and high quality.
Arminius was a Germanic chieftain and commander of a group of allied tribesmen that handed the Romans defeat at the Battle of Teutoburg Forest in 9 AD. Three Roman legions under Publius Quinctilius Varus were wiped out and it is said that the course of history changed at that battle.
More accurately described as having a shrouded hammer, these guns actually featured a ‘floating ‘ firing pin in the standing breech. The spring-loaded button in front of the cylinder makes for very easy disassembly. The gun has a right sided loading gate and left sided safety. This would have been a very nice German “conceal & carry” gun in the years leading up to World War II.
Overall condition is near fine. Original blue finish. The action is excellent. The bore is mostly bright with mild spotting and sharp rifling. The grips bear the bust of Arminius and remain solid.
