FACTORY LETTERED Iconic WINCHESTER Model 1892 Lever Action .32-20 WCF RIFLE
Classic Turn of the Century Lever Action Repeater Made in 1905 C&R
Here we present a Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Rifle chambered in .32-20 WCF, made in 1905 in New Haven, Connecticut. This one left the warehouse on 14 April 1906 according to the accompanying Colt factory letter.
Another fantastic design from the mind of John Moses Browning, the 1892 was made to replace the venerable and iconic 1873 and featured its pistol caliber chamberings. The result was a trim and light rifle that was an immediate hit and stayed in production for almost 50 years. Many gun owners favored Winchester rifles for their ability to fire the same ammunition as their pistols, meaning that a cowboy, trapper or stagecoach defender could take along his trust rifle and pistol sidearm with only one supply of ammo!
The Model 1892, like many other Winchester rifles, made a name for themselves in many notable Hollywood productions. She served as the firearm of choice to “The Rifleman” with actor Chuck Connors and was held in high regard by characters as portrayed by western star John Wayne.
The overall condition is fine. Very nice original blue finish. Nice sharp corners on the octagonal barrel. The action is crisp. The bore is in great shape, bright with sharp rifling. The stock is solid and smooth with some honest handling. A fantastic Winchester 1892 in a fun and useful cartridge!
