ETCHED BLADE Officer’s AMERICAN EAGLE Pommel SWORD J.L. & Co.
Early to Mid-1800s Saber w/ BONE GRIP
Here we present an antique American Eagle Head Officer’s Pattern Saber, manufactured circa the early to mid-1800s. The “Eagle Head” sword was popularized during the American Revolutionary War and was one of the signature weapons of the young United States through the War of 1812 and into the 1830s.
The overall condition is good. Straight blade with a silvery patina. The etchings are visible. Makers mark is visible on the spine. Possibly “J. L. & Co.”. The hilt is solid, with just slight movement of the eagle head pommel. The bone grip has a one inch chip on the back side and is otherwise solid.
Overall Length: 30 inches
Blade Length: 34-3/4 inches
