Engraved THOMAS BLAND & SONS Double Barrel SXS HAMMERLESS Shotgun C&R
Double Barrel 12 Gauge Shotgun with EJECTORS!
Here we present a Thomas Bland & Sons Double Barrel Side by Side Hammerless Shotgun, made circa 1949 in London, England. Bland has been in business in London for over 150 years, starting 10 years earlier in 1840 in Birmingham, England. The rib is marked “T. BLAND & SONS. WEST STRAND. LONDON.”. The casehardened action is English scrolled engraved with floral bouquets on the fences and “T. BLAND & SONS” marked on both sides. In the early to mid-1900s, Bland concentrated on the wildfowling side of the business, so much that the name of Bland became synonymous with wildfowling guns.
The overall condition is nearing fine. Very fine floral engravings. Blued barrels. The action is excellent. The smooth bores are mirror bright and in fine shape. The checkering at the wrist remains sharp. The buttstock has been extended and a bit of checkering has been done on the back.
