Product Description

ENGRAVED/SILVER Mounted WILLIAM PEPPER Antique DERRINGER Percussion Pistol

BRITISH Period Copy Henry Deringer’s Famous Pistol

Here we present an antique British William Pepper Period Copy of Henry Deringer’s Percussion Pocket Pistol, made circa the 1850s-60s. It was not until the 1850s that a prototypical “Deringer” percussion pistol became extremely popular. Once it did become popular, the basic design was copied in dozens of different shops. Not only was it copied, but Deringer’s good name was stamped on guns made by others, some of them not up to the quality standards of Deringer himself. The inventor was apparently very worried about protecting his good name, so he pursued and sued any of the counterfeiters that he could find and warned the buying public to beware of his spurious imitators.

The overall condition is good. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age. A few cracks can be found on the forend, all are stable, and the checkering is faded. Lightly engraved lock, hammer, and barrel band. Legible markings.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 2-5/8 inches.

Caliber: .54 Percussion

Overall condition as seen in photos.
