ENGRAVED, NICKEL, IVORY 1873 Patent OTIS SMITH .32 Rimfire REVOLVER Antique
SCARCE Little Wild West HIDEOUT Revolver!
Here we present an antique Otis Smith Spur Trigger Pocket Revolver, made circa 1873 in either Middleton or Rockfalls, Connecticut. Otis Smith was a gunmaker in both Middleton & Rockfalls, Connecticut in the 1870s and 1880s. He held a number of patents for revolvers and mostly made inexpensive, but good quality handguns in calibers ranging from .22 to .41 in both rimfire and centerfire. It is estimated that there were less that 4,000 of these little revolvers made. Both of his solid frame and top break models are considered an American arms oddity.
The top of the frame is clearly engraved “Smith’s Patent/April 15th, 1873”. The antique ivory bird’s head grips are in nice condition. The rear sight is incorporated into the hammer and is usable when the hammer is in a cocked position. The firearm has a five shot cylinder chambered in .32 Rimfire.
The overall condition is fine. Excellent action. Bright bore. Original nickel finish has been preserved! Sharp floral engravings on frame, barrel, and cylinder. Fine ivory grips with minimal wear. Visible markings are sharp. Numbers match! Here is a truly fine antique revovler that belongs in a collection.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 3 inches.
Caliber: .32 Rimfire
Overall condition as seen in photos.
