Engraved FREDERICK WILLIAMS Double Barrel C&R Boxlock HAMMERLESS Shotgun
Double Barrel 12 Gauge Shotgun with EJECTORS!
Here we present a Frederick Williams Double Barrel Side by Side Boxlock Hammerless Shotgun, made circa the early 20th century in London, England. Frederick Williams was an English gunmaker making premium quality hand-built shotguns with operations in Birmingham and London from 1881 to 1950. Williams’ shop was in the heart of the Birmingham gunmakers quarter. He advertised himself as a “specialist in English made shotguns”.
It appears he produced many top-quality doubles that he sold to the public from his Birmingham shop. However, most of the shotguns produced by Frederick Williams were marketed by London gunmakers and retailers under their own name, thus today classic side by sides bearing the inscription “Fred’k Williams” are a rarity.
The overall condition is near fine. Refinished barrels have virtually complete blue finish. Lovely, clear engraving. The action is strong. The bores are mirror-bright. The stock is solid all around. The checkering shows expected wear. This example features ejectors, and they function properly!
