Product Description

ENGRAVED British WEBLEY & SCOTT Double Barrel C&R Shotgun HALIFAX RETAILER

ROARING TWENTIES Era BOXLOCK Fowling Piece

Here we present a C&R British Webley & Scott Ltd. Boxlock Double Barrel Side by Side Hammerless Shotgun, made circa the roaring twenties era in Birmingham, England. According to Nigel Brown’s “British Gunmakers Volume Two: Birmingham, Scotland & the Regions”, this fantastic shotgun was manufactured in 1927. In 1897 P Webley & Son amalgamated with W & C Scott & Sons, forming The Webley & Scott Revolver & Arms Company of Birmingham and 78 Shaftesbury Avenue, London. Up until the mid-1920’s guns were produced as either Webley & Scott or W & C Scott models. Production of Webley & Scott Shotguns continued up until 1978 at which time a separate company, W&C Scott (Gunmakers) Limited was formed and in 1985 was bought by Holland and Holland.

England and Belgium were the epicenter for European gunmaking well beyond the turn of the century. This is an English fowling piece that is elegant in its simplicity and practicality. This double barrel hammerless gun would have been used for putting game on the table, spending an afternoon skeet shooting, or defending one’s property.

The overall condition is very fine. Original finish and case colors. Sharply engraved. Excellent action. Mirror bright bores. The stock and forend are sharp with nice checkering. Sharp markings. Numbers match.
