Product Description

Engraved AUGUSTE FRANCOTTE Double Barrel 12 Gauge HAMMERLESS Shotgun C&R

BELGIAN MADE Side by Side with EXTRACTOR

Here we present a C&R engraved Auguste Francotte Double Barrel Side by Side Hammerless Shotgun in 12 Gauge, made circa the turn of the century in Liege, Belgium. It was at the beginning of the 19th century in 1805 when the Auguste Francotte gun factory was founded. Its founding pre-dates that of both James Purdey and Holland & Holland of London.

Today, Auguste Francotte was and is one of the most respected names in good quality guns, known all over the world. The origins of the Francotte guns are closely linked with the Armory of Liege, which had a very high reputation. After having manufactured numerous military guns, Auguste Francotte turned towards the making of high quality sporting guns. Over the years, Francotte guns have been owned by many of the world’s industrial leaders, chiefs of state, and the crowned heads of Europe and Asia.

The overall condition is fine. This piece retains traces of its original finish and boasts striking damascus patterns. The bore is smooth and mirror bright. The stock is in very good condition, with sharp checkering on the forend and wrist. Markings are clear and the engravings are finely detailed. Numbers are matching. The buttstock extended, and a gold barrel breech band completes the aesthetic.
