Product Description
ENGRAVED Antique Double Barrel OVER/UNDER Boxlock .40 Cal. FLINTLOCK Pistol
EARLY-19th Century Self-Defense Sidearm
Here we present an antique Engraved Double Barrel, Over-Under Boxlock Flintlock Pistol, made circa the 1820s in Europe. This would have been primarily used as a self-defense gun. The over/under configuration is highlighted by two separate percussion chambers, one for each barrel, as compared to a rotating barrel. It also has a sliding safety bar on the top that fits into the cock when at half-cock.
In its day, this two shot flintlock pocket pistol would have been a very handy self-defense weapon to have around, having two shots when most firearms of the time were limited to one! This pistol was likely worn on one’s belt or carried in a coat pocket as they strolled through the busy streets of London or Paris during the tumultuous times of the early to mid-1800s.
The overall condition is very good. Gray patina throughout. The action is strong. Both the tap selector and the sliding safety function as well. The bores are dim and mostly smooth. The grip is solid.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 3-3/4 inches.
Caliber: .40 Flintlock
Overall condition as seen in photos.
