Here we present an antique Flintlock Pistol, made in the 18th Century, almost certainly the Italian Penninsula. This large bored pistol would have been intended for use as a military or defensive firearm. It is a medium sized flintlock, being able to fit into a large pocket or more likely in a belt. Its barrel is 10 inches in length. This would have likely been purchased privately by an officer and carried into battle in the event he met the enemy. Here is a fantastic, scarce and historical European Pistol from one of the most pivotal times in European history!
Almost every metal surface is engraved with floral designs. The stock is beautifully carved to accent the metal hardware. The trigger guard tang features some period markings.
The overall condition is very good. The action is as strong as ever. The bore is good. The stock is carved and the finish on the wood retains a bit of shine.
