Product Description
English E. JAMES & Co. Double Barrel Shotgun Percussion 12 Gauge 1800s Relic
19th Century Black Powder Side by Side
Here we present an antique Double Barrel Percussion Shotgun by E. James & Company, made circa the mid-19th Century in England. A double barrel shotgun would have been a staple in many homes in Britain, especially those in rural areas during this period. It is also possible that this was made for export to North America. The gun is workmanlike and Spartan. 12 Gauge with each barrel having a hammer and corresponding trigger.
The overall condition is rough. The part of the stock where the barrel wedge would be has been broken. The corresponding lug under the barrels has been refastened with solder. BP proofs under the barrels as well as initials E.J. which matches the name on the locks: E. James & Co.. The left action is strong but the right action is slack and not functional. The right action has also been fit with a replacement hammer that doesn’t work well with the gun. Bores are dark.
Barrels are about 34 inches long.
Gauge: 12
Overall condition as seen in photos.
