Here we present a C&R W. Richards English Double Barrel Side x Side Hammerless Shotgun, manufactured circa the early 1900s in Liverpool, England. The history of W. Richards has connections with gunmaking going all the way back to 1780 and was patronized by royalty from all over the British Empire, including HRH The Prince of Wales, HRH The Duke of Gloucester, and HSH Prince Adolphus of Teck. Originally formed in London in 1801, they had a brief stint in Birmingham before settling in Liverpool, which at the time was a thriving shipping port. This company continues today as a
Chris Caine purchased the company with all of its assets from W. Richards in the late 1990s and continues to manufacture guns.
The overall condition is fine. Original finish. The action is robust. Bright, smooth bore. This example sports a solid stock with an average amount of wear. The wrist is lightly checkered. Markings are legible. “CLASSIC ARMS CORDOVA, TN” import marked.
