Double Dated 1918/1920 Unit Marked WORLD WAR I DWM GERMAN LUGER Pistol C&R
Iconic WWI IMPERIAL GERMAN Military Sidearm
Here we present a C&R World War I Double Dated “1918” & “1920” Model 1914 German Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol, originally made in 1918 by DWM in Berlin, Germany. Basing his design off Hugo Borchardt’s seminal C93, Georg Luger successfully brought Borchardt’s work to practical fruition. While finding buyers for the C93 seemed an exercise in futility, the new Luger Pistol found many countries eager to test it and even adopt it. There are many variations in this field of collecting, but relatively few major changes in overall design from beginning to end. The Luger is certainly one of the most iconic firearms in history, made so by its association with Germany during both World Wars.
The top of the chamber is Great War dated “1918” with a date of “1920” above as a post-war inventory/confiscation mark. The top of the toggle is marked “DWM”. The right side of the frame bears Imperial German military acceptance marks.
The overall condition is fair. Refinished. Mixed numbers. The action is strong. The bore is in good condition: reflective with strong rifling. The grips shows lots of wear. Newer magazine.
