Chinese NORINCO Model 213 Semi-Auto Pistol SOVIET TOKAREV TT-33 Copy MODERN
“BLACK STAR” Pistol With “66” Marked Frame
Here we present a Modern Chinese Norinco Model 213 Semi-Automatic Pistol, made circa the 1990s. The Norinco Model 213 is a Chinese made copy of the Soviet Tokarev TT-33 pistol, first introduced in 1954 and still manufactured today. While the original TT-33 pistol was chambered in 7.62×25mm caliber, the Model 213 variant is in 9×19mm Parabellum. These pistols and their variants are also known colloquially as “Black Star” pistols due to the star embossed in their grip panels.
In 1951, Mao’s China and Stalin’s Soviet Union shared the technology package to build the TT-33 Tokarev pistol design for Red China. In a short time span, and estimated 250,000 Tokarev clones came off the lines as the new Type 51 pistol. A few years later, the slightly modified all Chinese Type 54 came about that still exists in second-line armories. Fast forward to Nixon’s new approach with Communist China and the normalization of trade, and in 1980, the China North Industries Corporation, better known as Norinco, was formed.
