Product Description

CASED SET of REMINGTON Double DERINGER Pistols .41 C&R Pair Over/Under OU

BEAUTIFULLY ENGRAVED .41 Rimfire Pistols

Here we present a Pair of Cased and Engraved C&R Remington Double Deringer Pistols. The Double Deringer was made by Remington from 1865-1935, which is a testament to the design as well as Americans’ desire to carry a concealed weapon. The Deringer was sturdily built and simple in operation. A lever on the right side of the frame swings so that the barrels may open upward on a hinge for loading and unloading. There is a single firing pin that moves from one barrel to another with each cock.

The Model 95 Double Deringer was designed by William Elliot of Remington, who had previously designed a whole series of popular and successful pocket pistols and deringers for the firm. The Model 95 was unique in that it provided the “big bore” punch of the .41 rimfire cartridge in a very compact package and offered the user two shots without a reload. The small number of .41 RF deringers that preceded the Model 95 to the market were single shot pistols, so the Model 95 offered twice the firepower of its competition. The pistol was patented by Elliot and Remington in 1865 and went into production in 1866. The overwhelming success and popularity of the Model 95 is underscored by the fact that it remained in production from 1866 through 1935 and more than 150,000 of these iconic pistols were produced during those 69 years! Below are the various types with a description of each.

The overall condition is good. Each has been nicely engraved and refinished post-factory. One has a bright nickel finish while the other has a darker “antiqued” finish. Both actions are excellent. The bores in these guns are quite worn with light pitting throughout each. The grips are solid. The grips on the darker gun are ivory and the steer skull on the one side is a nice touch. The case is in very good condition. The .41 rimfire ammunition will be shipped at our discretion.
