Product Description

CASED & Engraved Le PAGE BROTHERS Double Barrel PERCUSSION Shotgun

GOLD ACCENTED with Accessories!

Here we present an antique LePage Brothers Double Barrel Side by Side Percussion Shotgun, made circa 1857-1868. The LePage Freres (LePage Brothers), Charles and Alphonse, made guns in their own name in Liège, Belgium, from at least 1857 to 1868. Le Page was a French firearms manufacturer established in Paris in 1717. Founded by Louis Pigny, the company remained in the same family until 1913. The brand’s unique and luxurious craftsmanship quickly gathered a royal and imperial clientele. In addition, the manufacturer’s commitment to the French Revolution together with recognition from authors also enhanced the prestige of the brand.

The Damascus barrels are signed “FQUE (Fabrique) DE LEPAGE FRERES A LIEGE MSON A PARIS 12 RUE D’ENGHIEN”. 16 gauge. There are two thin gold bands at the breech. Bead front sight. The locks, hammers, and trigger guard, ramrod pipe, barrel tang, and top tang of the butt plate feature very fine floral engraving. The makers also have their mark of “LF” stamped in the bottom of the barrels and engraved on the barrel tang with a lion. The stock has a lovely figure to it. Hand-cut checkering. It weighs in at just under 6 pounds. There are sling swivels front and rear. This shotgun comes in a fitted wooden case with green felt lining. There is a very fine Boche a Paris powder flask with a viewing window. The container is metal and covered by leather. There is also a tin of caps, a three piece cleaning rod, a bore brush, a mallet, and a large bullet mold. The case locks with its accompanying key.

The overall condition is very good. The action is excellent. The bores are in good shape, smooth. Engravings on the locks, hammer, and trigger guard remain crisp. The stock is perfectly solid with a nice tight fit to the barrels, the finish is sleek and the checkering sharp. The case and accessories are in good shape. This is a great piece for display as well as a candidate for some upland hunting!

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrels are 27-3/4 inches.

Caliber: 16 gauge

Overall condition as seen in photos.
