Product Description

RARE Antique IXL NYC .31 Caliber DOUBLE ACTION Revolver CASED & ENGRAVED

NEW YORK CITY Made Popular SELF COCKING

Here we present an antique IXL Double Action Revolver, made circa the 1850s. Only about 750 of this model estimated made. These “self-cocking” revolvers are considered to have been made in the United States though who made them remains a mystery. Some are found unmarked at all and some are marked either IXL N. YORK or B.J. HART BROADWAY. In any case, these highly resemble the Adams double action revolvers coming out of England at this time. This revolver is of high quality and craftsmanship, though it does not bear any proofs as would be seen on guns made in England even for export.

The overall condition is very good. The action is excellent, though the trigger return spring is a bit anemic. The bore is in good condition with strong rifling. The grips are solid. The case is in good condition. The exterior has been varnished and the varnish has a crackling appearance. Includes an enameled cap tin, brass bullet mold, and pewter powder flask. Whether you are interested in British, American, general firearms history or the handsome aesthetics, this piece has it all.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 3-1/2 inches.

Caliber: .31 Percussion

Overall condition as seen in photos.
