Product Description

c1954 mfr. WINCHESTER Model 12 PUMP ACTION 20 Gauge Hammerless Shotgun C&R

GAME SCENE ENGRAVED with CARVED STOCK

Here we present a C&R Winchester Model 12 Slide Action “Perfect Repeater” Shotgun, manufactured in 1954 in New Haven, Connecticut. The Model 1912 was Winchester’s first slide-action hammerless shotgun. In April 1919, Winchester eliminated the “18” and “19” from the model names of all of the various models that were in active production. So, prior to this date, the Model 12 would have been the Model 1912.  It was designed by T. C. Johnson, utilizing a strong frame and a hidden hammer. The chamber was made longer for the 2-3/4 inch shells in 1927, then later for 3 inch shells.  This shotgun was available in many barrel lengths, all possible chokes, numerous gauges and 11 different models.

The Model 12 is an internal-hammer, pump-action shotgun with an external tube magazine. It was popularly named the “Perfect Repeater”. It largely set the standard for pump action shotguns over its 51-year production lifespan from August 1912 until first discontinued by Winchester in 1963 with over 1,900,000 guns sold.

This example has near full coverage of floral scroll engraving with a five bird game scene on the left and wedges of scroll at the breach. There is a three bird game scene carved into the right stock. Jeweled bolt.

The overall condition is fine. This shotgun has been engraved and the stock carved. Refinished upon embellishment. The action is excellent. The bore is shiny bright and smooth. The stock has nice figure and shows very little wear. A fantastic piece for the field or the den!
