c1870s .44 Russian Antique REMINGTON New Model ARMY CARTRIDGE CONVERSION
Made Circa 1863-65 and Converted in the 1870s!
Here we present an antique Remington New Model Army Cartridge Conversion Revolver. The New Model Army was manufactured from 1863 to 1875 with a total production of approximately 132,000 and represented the last of Remington’s .44 caliber percussion revolvers. This revolver was likely converted sometime after the Civil War ended with the expiration of the Rollin-White Patent in 1869. This revolver represents what many folks did to keep their weapons useable and relevant in times of change. This would have been used contemporarily with the then-new Colt Single Action Army and Comparable Smith & Wesson revolvers.
The overall condition is very good. Old reblue and cartridge conversion. This was a US Ordnance inspected piece that was taken home after the war, surplussed, or possibly even captured. The action is excellent and strong. The bore is good for age with a patina and sharp rifling. The grips have been hand-checkered and feature a little bit of a design above a faint cartouche. Grips are solid.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
