Product Description
c1865 Antique METROPOLITAN ARMS Navy Model .36 Caliber Percussion Revolver
Direct Copy of the Popular Colt Model 1851 Navy!
Here we present an antique Metropolitan Arms Navy Revolver, made circa 1865, in New York City. Colt was one of the primary recipients for small arms contracts during the American Civil War, mostly selling many tens of thousands of their 1860 Army and 1851 Navy models. The company was also still producing lines of civilian arms to meet the demands of the home front and those soldiers wanting to privately purchase their own side arms.
Metropolitan Arms Co. began making a near copy of the Colt Model 1851 Navy in 1864, the year much of the Colt factory burned to the ground. Very few were made, only about 6,000, between 1864-1866.
The overall condition is good. Excellent action. The bore is in good shape for its age. Legible markings. Good, solid grip. Visible numbers match. This example has been refinished. Here is a nice example of a rare Metropolitan Arms Navy Revolver.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
