BURY ST EDMONDS FURLONG Flintlock SeaServicePistol Middlesex London Antique
Late-18th Century British Military Sidearm
Here we present an antique English Long Sea Service Flintlock Pistol by Furlong, likely made by J Furlong circa the late-18th Century in St. Edmondsbury, Middlesex, London, England. Records regarding this early English gunmaker are very scarce. Furlong was of Irish descent from Wexford and had a shop on Churchyard Street.
This pistol possibly saw combat throughout many major campaigns during its life span including the French and Indian War, the American Revolution, the Battle of Trafalgar, and the War of 1812. Many captured weapons from the British would go into the hands of the Americans.
The overall condition is very good. Gray patina. Clear London proofs and the marking of Richard Wilson (*/RW), gunmaker. There are Londonderry, Ireland registration markings on the top of the barrel. The action is strong. The bore is smooth and patinated. The stock is solid and sturdy. A great piece!
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 12-3/4 inches.
Caliber: .60 Flintlock
Overall condition as seen in photos.
