Product Description
BRITISH EAST INDIA Company Marked BROWN BESS Flintlock Musket EIC Heart .73
Indigenous-Made Colonial Arm
Here we present an antique British East India Company Flintlock Musket, made circa the early 1800s. It features the EIC Heart logo emblem of the Honorable East India Company, and an unknown calligraphic marking at the tail of the lock. The stock, cock, tall frizzen, and furniture all appear to have been made in Southeast Asia, possibly Nepal. This musket would have served as some point with the East India Company early and well into the 19th Century. It is very likely that it was witness to the Indian Mutiny in 1857. This musket shows signs of use well after it was made obsolete, likely in Indian or Nepalese hands.
The overall condition is very good. The action is strong. The bore is somewhat pitted. The stock is solid.
