BRITISH Antique LIGHT DRAGOON Flintlock Pistol
Made In The Late 1700’s
Here we present an antique British Light Dragoon Flintlock Pistol, made circa the late-18th Century. This pistol would have been carried by a member of the British Light Dragoons. These cavalry troops were differentiated from the Heavy Dragoons in that they were more lightly armed and armored, enabling them to move nimbly for scouting, raiding and communications purposes. Light Cavalry in the British Army began to be more highly developed and organized during this very period of the middle 1700s. Two Regiments, the 16th & 17th, participated in the attempt to put down the American Revolution against British rule from 1775-1783.
The left side of the barrel bears British proof marks.
The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces have a smooth, gray patina. The markings are legible. The bore is dark and smooth. The stock has been repaired around the lock. The action is strong. Here is a British pistol with lots of history!
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
