Early 19th Century Belt Pistol
Here we present an antique George S. Reddell British Flintlock Pistol, made circa the early-19th Century. Reddell was recorded as “Gunmaker & Sword Cutler to their R.H. The Prince Regent, Dukes of Sussex & Cambridge & Royal Museum”. He is listed at various addresses in the West End of London between 1802 and 1821 and supplied “pattern pistols” to the Prince Regent’s Collection, Carlton House in 1810. This example is addressed at 236 Piccadilly.
The overall condition is very good. The action is excellent. The cock is a replacement. The bore is in good condition; smooth. The stock is solid. There is a spot of minor split on the right side of the forestock that does not appear to be the result of abuse.
