Product Description

BRACE of Engraved DOUBLE BARREL Antique FLINTLOCK TAP Action Pistols

18th Century Pair of Folding Trigger Pistols with Barrel Selector

Here we present a pair of antique British Over/Under Tap Action Flintlock Pistol with Screw-Off Barrels, made circa the late 1700s. This pistol was designed for defensive use. Its major advantage over most pistols of the period was the ability to fire two shots instead of one. Each bore has its own vent through which a spark would travel to ignite the charge within. With a flip of the horseshoe-shaped rotating lever on the left side of the frame, one could select either the top or bottom bore. If neither barrel had been shot yet, the shooter could open both vents to shoot both bores simultaneously. This pistol features floral engravings on both sides of the barrel above the trigger.

The overall condition is good. The action is strong, although one of the pistols is missing the top jaw. Only part of the jaw screw remains. The bores are in good shape. The tap action lever is broken on one pistol, but the lever is included. Both of the grips have almost identical hand carved markings on the left side. This is an instant flintlock collection that can be collected and displayed!

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 2-3/4 inches.

Caliber: .45

Overall condition as seen in photos.
