BRACE of DUBLIN, IRISH Antique H. HOLMES Percussion BOXLOCK Belt Pistols
CLASSY Pair of Pistols from IRELAND!
Here we present a pair of antique Holmes Irish Boxlock Percussion Cannon Barrel Pistols, made circa the late 1700s to early 1800s in Dublin, Ireland. This pair of pistols would have started out life as flintlocks and converted sometime around the time that the new percussion firing system was introduced. These little self-defense pistols would have been most at home in the pocket of anyone in the busy city of Dublin during the tumultuous times of the late 1700s. These pistols are small, light and simple.
The overall condition on both pistols is good. The actions are both functional. The bores are smooth and in good shape. One example is missing the screw from the barrel tang, but the grip is seated firmly with only a slight movement. The wire inlays are in excellent shape. Both barrels are easily removed as intended. A great looking pair of pistols from the early-19th Century in Dublin!
