BRACE of Antique OTTOMAN Flintlock HOLSTER/HORSE Pistols 1700s/1800s Turks
MATCHING PAIR of Late-18th / Early 19th Century Pistols
Here we present a pair of antique Ottoman Flintlock Holster/HORSE Pistols, made circa the end of the 18th century. Pistols like these were commonly used around the Mediterranean in the 18th and early 19th Centuries. The Ottoman Empire during this period stretched from modern Turkey, through Greece and Eastern Europe to the North, and along the North Coast of Africa and the Mediterranean Sea to the South, encompassed the Red Sea and into the Middle East to include Israel, Syria, Jordan, and Iraq.
These pistols feature engraved locks and other hardware, carved and hand-checkered full-length stocks, and gold washed Damascene twist barrels. These come in their original embroidered leather pommel holsters. The whole set makes a stunning display.
The overall condition for this set is very good. Strong actions. Both smooth bores are in good shape for their age. One pistol has a repair to the front barrel pin with the other is missing a chip from the stock near the muzzle. Deeply engraved locks, hammers, and trigger guards with traditional designs. Gold painted motifs atop the twist barrels. Carved stocks. The colorfully embroidered leather holster is in good shape.
