Product Description
Belgian Pattern 1856 2-Band MORDANT .58 Rifle-Musket 1865 CIVIL WAR Antique
Infantry Primary Arm w/BAYONET
Here we present an antique G. Mordant Pattern 1856 2-Band Rifle-Musket manufacture circa 1865 in Liege, Belgium. This is a direct copy of the famed and proven Enfield design so popular during the 1850s and 1860s across the British Empire as well as in the United States during the American Civil War. G. Mordant was a Liege maker registered from 1850-1876 who had several patents in his own name for needle fire technology, both rifle and revolver.
The overall condition is very good. Patina throughout. The action is excellent. The bore is patinated with good rifling. The stock is solid and shows use. The S&K bayonet is in good condition with the exception that the button/latch is presently stuck in place; therefore, the bayonet does not fit on the musket’s muzzle. Nevertheless, it is an impressive piece that would look great displayed together.
