Here we present an antique W. Ketland & Co. Brass Barrel Flintlock Pistol, made circa the early 1800s in turn of the century England. Ketland & Co. operated in Birmingham, England, from the late 1700s and to the early 1800s to become one of the most prominent and active British makers of the day. John and Thomas Ketland were the sons of Thomas Ketland and grandsons of William Ketland, who had been making locks and guns for the colonies since the early 18th Century. The lock plate is marked “W/ KETLAND/ & Co” and the barrel is marked “LONDON”. London proofs.
The overall condition is very good. The action will hold in half-cock but not full. The bore is smooth and has verdigris. The stock is smooth and solid.
