Antique W.H. HORSTMANN & Sons Non-Regulation U.S. OFFICER’S MILITIA Sword
Likely Made Circa the 1860s-70s with SCABBARD!
Here we present an antique Non-Regulation U.S. Officer’s Sword, made by W.H. Horstmann & Sons of Philadelphia circa the 1860s-70s. The sword features a beautifully curved blade with a US marked brass basket hilt. The grip is wrapped in leather and braided wire. The blade is 36 inches with overall length at 41-1/2 inches. This saber would possibly have been used in the American Civil War by Union Officers and the Spanish American war later in the century.
The overall condition is very good. The blade is oxidized with detailed patriotic etchings and minor dings on the blade. The hilt is solid with a tight leather grip and twisted wire. The scabbard is in good shape (contains a few dents on each side).
