Antique SMITH & WESSON 3rd Model .32 Cal. Double Action TOP BREAK Revolver
1880s Self Defense Revolver!
Here we present an antique 3rd Model Smith & Wesson .32 S&W Double Action Revolver, made circa 1883 in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Smith & Wesson Second Models were produced between 1882 and 1883 with a total production of approximately 21,232 examples. This is one of the rarer of the S&W revolvers. As mentioned above, this revolver was chambered for the .32 S&W cartridge and was usually equipped with a 3” barrel. They were fitted with a 5-shot fluted cylinder and were either blue finished or nickel plated. They came with a top break design and round butt. The grips were either checkered or floral embossed hard rubber with the S&W monogram. The serial number ranged from 22173 to 43405.
These were petite and handy little guns that chambered 5 cartridges, perfect for the pocket and enough to get out of most scrapes.
The overall condition is good. Bright bore. The action only functions in double action. Original nickel finish. Numbers match. Sharp markings. Both grips are in good shape, repairs on both toes are stable.
