Antique REMINGTON-ELLIOT Vest Pocket .41 Cal. Single Shot DERINGER Pistol
SCARCE 1 of less than 10,000 “MISSISSIPPI” Deringers
Here we present an antique Remington-Elliot Deringer (also known as the Vest Pocket Pistol), made from 1865-1888. This example is also referred to as the “Mississippi” Deringer. Invented by William H. Elliot, less than 10,000 of these guns were made in all calibers in total over the 23 years production run. This single shot pistol is very simple in mechanics. Place the hammer in the most rearward position and load a cartridge. The hammer also acts as the loading gate and breach block.
The trigger mechanism consists of only a spur trigger, main spring, and combination hammer and breechblock. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address and patent information.
The overall condition is good. Strong action. Bright bore. Both grips are in good shape. Numbers match. Clear markings.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 2-1/2 inches.
Caliber: .41 rimfire
Overall condition as seen in photos.
