Antique Model 1860 Staff & Field OFFICER’S Style Sword with SCABBARD
American Made Sword w/BRASS GUARD & WOOD GRIP
Here we present an antique Model 1860 Staff & Field Officer’s Style Sword, made circa the mid to late 1800s. The Model 1860 Staff and Field Officer’s Sword, also referred to as the Staff and Line Officer’s Sword and the Foot and Staff Officer’s Sword, was produced in very limited quantities during its lifespan.
During this period, several changes were made, including the hilt, grip, etched panels, and the signature on the ricasso. Most of the Model 1860 swords produced at the Springfield Armory were marked with some variation of that name, although a very small quantity were marked “National Armory”.
The overall length is 34-1/4 inches and the blade measures 29 inches along with a brass hilt, wooden grip, and a tin scabbard with an incomplete leather cover.
The overall condition is good. The blade remains fairly sharp and has been touched up over time. Some wiggle in the hand guard is present. The twisted brass wire is missing around the grip. Good scabbard. The scabbard has a few dents and repairs.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Overall condition as seen in photos.
