Antique HILL’S PATENT Double Action 5-Shot .38 Caliber PERCUSSION Revolver
Late 1850s to Early 1860s SELF DEFENSE Revolver
Here we present an antique British Hill’s Patent Double Action Percussion Revolver, made circa 1860 in London, England. This double action revolver has a closed wedge frame and a rifled barrel. The right side of the frame is marked “HILL’S PATENT, LONDON NO. 36082”. British proofs are stamped on the underside of the barrel and on the cylinder between each chamber. A loading lever is attached to the left side of the barrel lug that is pushed up to operate.
This self-defense pistol would have been most at home in the coat pocket of anyone in the busy cities of London, Paris and Liege during the mid-1800s. The “Coat/Pocket Pistol” name says it all.
The overall condition is good. The action fully functions, but the cylinder has some wiggle when locked up and the timing is off. The bore is good for its age. Legible markings. Sharp checkering is present on both grips and they remain in good shape.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 5 inches.
Caliber: .38 Percussion
Overall condition as seen in photos.
