British BIG BORE Pistol Made Circa Mid-1800s
Here we present an antique Engraved English Griffiths Belt Pistol, made circa the mid-1800s in England. The maker might have been William Griffiths of Manchester, England, as it was not uncommon for makers to use the name London as a more prestigious city on their work. This pistol features a 7 ¾” octagonal barrel in .62 caliber. The trigger guard has the spur for the second finger if desired. This is a large pistol that shows craftsmanship and some nice engraving.
The overall condition is good. Dark patina throughout. Hammer has been replaced and it goes well on this piece. Action is excellent. The bore is smooth and in good shape. The stock shows use and remains solid. Overall length is 15 inches.
