Product Description

Antique EUROPEAN .68 FLINTLOCK “Manstopper” SELF DEFENSE Holster Pistol

Early 1800s Pistol with HEAVY BARREL

Here we present an antique European Flintlock Pocket/Holster Pistol, made circa the early 1800s. This pistol has an average frame and a heavy barrel. It would have been concealable in a jacket or tucked into one’s belt and used for self-defense on the busy streets of London, Liege, or Paris during the tumultuous times of the early-1800s. The “Pocket Pistol” name says it all. They were the “Saturday Night Specials” of the 16th-18th century.

The bore is .68 caliber. Flintlock pistols were used as both military and self-defense weapons. Their effective range was much shorter than a musket and they were frequently used in combination with sword or cutlass. This is a neat old pistol and one can easily imagine the sight of its gaping bore would certainly be a deterrent to would be scoundrels and ne’er do wells. It was made primarily for self-defense, especially in cities or traveling around the countryside. This also could have been purchased privately by an officer and carried into battle to use as a back up to his primary weapon.

The overall condition is good. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age. Solid stock/forend with a nicely checkered grip and average wear. The tip of the forend has been repaired.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 6-1/4 inches.

Caliber: .68 Flintlock

Overall condition as seen in photos.
