Antique English JOHN PARR FLINTLOCK Musket BROWN BESS Type MILITIA .80 cal
LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND Gunmaker
Here we present an antique English Flintlock Militia Musket made by John Parr (active c. 1765-1803) in Liverpool. This officer’s musket follows the Brown Bess in form with its barrel secured by pins rather than bands. These muskets were exported to the U.S. for militia service as well as for use as ships muskets, etc. As to officer’s muskets, there was no official pattern which means that, while many are of smaller caliber, this was not a hard and fast rule. What is consistent is quality and practically every example displays a high level of.
“I/PARR” marked banana shaped lock plate, with faintly visible London proofs on the left of the breech, with engraving and brass furniture. Very long barrel and full-length stock forend.
The overall condition is good. Dark patina throughout. The action is functional. The bore is dark, dusty and untouched. The stock has been repaired all around the lock inletting and trigger guard and side plate. Holds together solidly. Pre-1813 London proofed barrel. This is the kind of musket that would have been common in the colonies before and during the Revolutionary War!
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 45 inches.
Caliber: .80 Flintlock
Overall condition as seen in photos.
