Product Description
Antique EARLY 1800s JOHN WALKER Full-Stock .69 Cal. FLINTLOCK Fowling Piece
Crucial HUNTING & HOMESTEAD Weapon
Here we present an antique John Walker Marked Full Stock Fowler made circa the early-19th Century. The “fowler” was a versatile weapon throughout the 18th and early-19th centuries, being a smooth-bored shoulder fired long gun that could hunt and serve for martial purposes. It could be charged with shot for hunting fowl and small game or large ball for larger game or men; or one could use “buck and ball”, a mixture of larger ball and shot for a devastating combination. This one features a lock by John Walker, who may have been only the lock maker or the maker of the entire gun.
The overall condition is good. Strong action. The bore is smooth and in good shape for its age. This example sports a solid stock that shows use. Here is a truly beautiful full stock rifle for any collection or display from the early US.
