Octagonal Barrel with Double Set Triggers
Here we present an antique Full Stock Flintlock Youth’s Rifle, made circa the early-19th Century. This rifle would have made a very nice target or small game rifle for a young boy learning how to hunt. Its bore is a fairly small .36 caliber. The overall length is short, making a relatively light and handy rifle. The stock features a beautiful walnut grain and has gracious curves including a raised cheek piece.
This rifle features a short overall length at 37 ½ inches with a 23 inch barrel. It weighs a little over 6 pounds. The butt stock has a grease hole with a brass adornment around it. Double set triggers. The octagonal barrel is .36 caliber.
This rifle has seen some repairs just forward of the lock. It is stable. The action is functional though the cock shows some hesitation to fall when the trigger is pulled. The bore is dim with some mild oxidation and good rifling.
