Antique BROWN MANUFACTURING Co. .41 Caliber “SOUTHERNER” SS Deringer Pistol
Desirable .41 Caliber Deringer
Here we present an antique Brown Mfg. Southerner Deringer Pistol, made circa 1870 in Newburyport, Massachusetts. About 16,500 of these were made during its production run between 1869 and 1873, making them quite scarce. The pistol was designed like many in its day to be a very simple, small and concealable self-defense tool.
While much of the competition made their single shots is the tiny .22 and .32 calibers, Brown’s “Southerner” was in the relatively stout .41 rimfire used by the likes of National, Colt and Remington.
The top of the barrel is marked “SOUTHERNER”.
The overall condition is good. Strong action, although the ejector does not function. The bore is in good shape for its age. Legible markings. Both grips contain an average amount of handling wear. Numbers match.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 2-1/2 inches.
Caliber: .41 Rimfire
Overall condition as seen in photos.
