Antique AMERICAN Half Stock HEAVY BARREL Percussion .52 Caliber Long Rifle
Kentucky Long Rifle Made Circa 1850!
Here we present an Antique American Half-Stock Long Rifle, made circa the mid-19th Century. Its stout octagonal barrel is in .52 caliber, large enough to take medium to large sized game or to defend the homestead. It is stocked in maple and has a double set trigger. Rifle manufacture in the mid-to-late 19th Century was rapidly changing over from thousands of craftsmen all over the United States and on the Frontier making and selling their wares, to the large factories with standardized assembly lines and modern manufacturing techniques. Many makers’ names of the so-called Kentucky long rifles have been lost over time. This rifle is one such example.
The overall condition is good. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age with deep rifling. The stock is in good shape and contains two stable repairs, one around the lock and one near the left side screw. Lightly engraved lock and hammer. An attractive piece from the American Frontier!
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 31-1/2 inches.
Caliber: .52 Percussion
Overall condition as seen in photos.
