Product Description

8-SHOT Engraved Antique PEPPERBOX Revolver .36 Caliber Percussion EUROPEAN

1840s 8-Shot Self Defense Revolver with EBONY GRIP!

Here we present an antique 8-Shot European Percussion Pepperbox Revolver, made circa 1840. Pepperboxes were early revolvers in which each chamber had its own barrel, and they were to bridge the gap between single and double barreled pistols and what we think of as “modern” revolvers. This pepperbox is unusual, even amongst other pepperboxes. Rather than a cylindrical barrel cluster, which would usually contain 5 or 6 barreled chambers bored in, this one features 8 individual barreled chambers. The combination of the individual barrels and the interesting pattern in which they are arranged allowed it to be smaller in diameter, lighter in weight and to accommodate more firepower. In a day when most people were carrying one or multiple single or double barreled, single action pistols (requiring the hammers to be cocked manually every time), this would have been some serious firepower. And it is as elegant as it is functional.

The overall condition is very good. The action is strong all around. The bores are in very good shape for their age. The engravings are sharp along the frame. What better than a Damascus barrel? How about 8 Damascus barrels? Here is a real showstopper that you’ll want in the collection!

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrels are 3 inches.

Caliber: .36 Percussion

Overall condition as seen in photos.
