Here Ancestry Guns presents a C&R Smith & Wesson .38 Military & Police Hand Ejector Model of 1905 Fourth Change Double Action Revolver manufactured in 1923 in Springfield, Massachusetts. This series of revolvers had a production run between 1915 to 1942 with a total production of 758,296. The .38-caliber serial number range is from 241,704-1,000,000. The were four minor design changes made during the production run of the Model 1905 with two, the 1st and 2nd changes overlapping in manufacture. The original Model of 1905 was manufactured between 1905 and 1906 with a total of 10,800 made. The Model of 1905 1st and 2nd change was manufactured between 1906 and 1909 with 73,648 made. The Model of 1905 3rd change was manufactured between 1909 and 1915 with 94,803 produced, and the Model of 1905 4th change spanned from 1915 through 1942 with a total production of 758,296.
Later models in this series include the .38 Military & Police Victory Model and the S&W Model 10. The Model 1905, as with the other .38 Hand Ejector models, is a six-shot revolver built on the Smith and Wesson K frame, with a swing-out cylinder chambered in .38 Special.
The overall condition is fine. Original finish is preserved. Light muzzle holster wear. Excellent action. The bore is shiny bright with sharp rifling. Both grips are very good with light handling wear. Markings are legible. Numbers match.
