Product Description

1900 Missouri LETTERED COLT Single Action Army .38-40 WCF Revolver C&R SAA

  1. JOSEPH, MISSOURI Shipped Colt 6-Shooter Made in 1900!

Here we present a First Generation Colt Single Action Army Revolver in .38-40 WCF, manufactured in 1900 in Hartford, Connecticut.

The included factory letter confirms the current configuration of when it was shipped to Wyeth Hardware & Mfg. Company of St. Joseph, MO on August 3, 1900. William Wyeth began the company in 1859 as a wholesale dealer with products varying from hardware, sporting, and household goods. Wyeth had his hands in many cookie jars around town, all combined they created wealth and good fortune for his family. His mansion is still standing in St. Joseph and is said to have used over 1,000,000 bricks in its construction, housing 43 rooms! When William passed away in 1901, his son Huston, was named president of the company. Huston later founded a multitude of companies including Cold/Ice Storage Facilities, Vitrified Brick supplies, and Creameries. He managed Real Estate, Railways, and Utilities all while traveling the world! Needless to say, the family has left a legacy for the City of St. Joseph that can still be seen today!

The overall condition is nearing fine. Strong original blue and case colors are visible. The action is strong and tight all the way around. The bore is in very good condition, with nice rifling. The left grip does have a vertical crack but has been secured at some point in time and remains stable. The numbers match. This is a fantastic example of the Colt SAA in the great .38-40 with a letter and lots of history!
